NEWS: Fancy Owning Senna's NSX?
Fancy owning a motoring icon owned by a motoring icon? The awesome 1992 Honda NSX, once owned by legendary three times Formula One World Champion Aryton Senna, is set to go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ Race Retro & Classic Car Sale on the 22nd and 23rd of February.
How's about that then?
The car was originally purchased by Antonio Carlos de Almeida Braga, close personal friend, manager and mentor of Senna, for the driver to use when he visited his home in Portugal.
Following Senna’s tragic death at Imola in 1994, the car remained in the garage at Braga’s home where it was not allowed to be touched or driven by anyone. After two years it was eventually sold to a buyer who kept it only a short time before being purchased by the current owner seventeen years ago.
Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “Very rarely does a car with such pedigree and provenance come to market, especially with such a powerful and personal link to arguably the greatest F1 driver of all time, and as such, we’re incredibly excited to offer it for auction.”
The car, offered with an estimate of between £75,000 to £85,000, is presented in black with a black leather interior, manual gearbox and has covered just 31,800 miles. When choosing the car Braga made sure it was set to the same specification that Senna chose for his own NSX and is regarded as the ultimate combination for the car.
This year sees the 20th anniversary of the death of the racing icon and the car could prove a great investment for buyers with heightened interest in the much admired model as the 25th anniversary of its introduction approaches next year. Senna was personally involved in the development of the NSX due to Honda supplying engines to the McLaren F1 team, a partnership which is set to resume again for the 2015 season.
Nick added: “We’re extremely pleased to be able to offer another item so closely linked to Aryton Senna. Over the past few years we’ve been privileged to offer race suits, helmets and signed photographs amongst other pieces connected to him as well as other F1 drivers such as Fangio and James Hunt.”
We reckon £75-85,000 is a bargain (& conservative estimate). It's sure to go up in value, as an NSX in this condition – let alone having been owned and driven by the man Senna himself. Cool as ****!

NEWS: 'The Quo' Set To Rock 7th Cholmondeley Pageant of Power 2014
The fabulous Cholmondeley Pageant of Power is set to be gabber than ever in 2014 – its seventh year – as legendary rock band Status Quo have been announced to play on the first night of the festival (Friday 13th June 2014). Rock on!
Last year’s Pageant of Power saw record numbers in attendance to witness the high-octane attractions, which proved popular with petrol heads and families alike. With a host of unique cars, boats and planes on show to satisfy even the most ardent speed fanatic, Status Quo will now add a touch of rock and roll to proceedings on the opening night of the event, and 2014 CPOP tickets will include seeing the iconic rockers in the price.
2014 tickets go on sale on Friday 17th January.
A spokesman for CPOP said: "Quo are one of the most recognised and successful bands in British history, with 64 hit singles and 22 in the Top Ten since their first hit, ‘Pictures of Matchstick Men’, in 1968. Early Bird tickets are expected to sell out quickly. Adult tickets are £38 and children under 16 £31. Tickets can be purchased from cpop.co.uk or ticketmaster.co.uk, so get involved!"
Status Quo guitarist and keen car enthusiast, Rick Parfitt, said: "The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power is all about noise, engine fumes and having some serious fun. Works for me! Whilst all the band love cars and the world of motoring, I have been a serious petrol head for as long as I can remember. As well as getting to perform for what we know will be a great crowd, being in amongst the action with some serious machinery is going to be a real buzz for me! Cars, bikes, helicopters - count me in!"
Lord Cholmondeley commented: "The Pageant has gone from strength to strength each year, and now in our seventh year it’s brilliant to welcome such an iconic band like Status Quo to be part of our unique event. It’s definitely going to be an action-packed three days with something on offer for everyone, and we’re really looking forward to the opening night with the extra excitement factor that the band will bring."
