Christmas delivery intercepted by cops for some unknown reason. 40 boxes in xmas wrapping paper containing pot, 20 pounds total
A Miami man was caught trying to bring a green Christmas up to the folks of Pennsylvania. Randy Jesus Valdivia, a 38-year-old resident of Surfside, wasn't driving a sleigh, but instead a 2014 Dodge Caravan. On Thursday afternoon, police pulled over the vehicle for displaying "criminal activity indicators" in a small town near the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
According to the Centre Daily Times, police were suspicious of the several wrapped Christmas presents in the car. Valdivia gave the permission to search the car. The police just couldn't wait until Christmas and opened the present early.
Inside the wrapped boxes they found sealed plastic bags of marijuana. Forty of them in fact. All in all Valdivia had about 20 pounds of pot wrapped as Christmas presents. The street value was estimated to be about $160,000.
Valdivia was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver.
Valdivia had previously been charged with possession of marijuana in Miami-Dade back in 2003, but those charges were ultimately dismissed. Charges of grand theft and assaults back in the '90s were similarly dismissed.

My question, what tips cops off that a 2014 Caravan on a freeway is suspicious?
Valdivia is not white, is it possible that Pennsylvania cops are trained to consider Spanish heritage a “criminal indicator?"

After running a check on Valdivia’s license and registration, the police came up empty handed -- he was clean.
Yet, before letting him go, officers asked him for permission to search his vehicle. So, nothing in the report says erratic driving or breaking ANY traffic law, and the license plate checked out legal. So why pull him over? Even his drivers license came up clean.

investigation in New Orleans finds traffic court judge seasoned traffic law violator (surprise!)
According to the report, five taxpayer-funded cars had been outfitted with blue emergency dashboard lights, which is a violation of state law.
Judge Jones III also had another piece of equipment on his car that was a potential traffic violation: A plastic cover over his license plate that reflects flash cameras like those used to collect tickets for driving violations. Using the plastic cover is another violation of state law.

Utah State Trooper Lisa Steed ruined lives of dozens of people... by trying to have the best stats for DUI tickets, and she was awarded cop of the year. Her victims? Lost their cars, jobs, etc because cops are not honest
State trooper Lisa Steed was honored inside the state police force for busting an extraordinary number of drunk drivers. But some of her convictions were subsequently over-turned, and the trooper was reprimanded and then fired for making false arrests.
If you add up all the cases these attorneys think are out there, the lawsuit could potentially cost Steed and the Utah Highway Patrol $20 million.

What gets me - her co-workers and supervisors, and dept head, etc did not question the complaints, or the stats, of a solo cop making incredible numbers of DUI arrests of poor people who couldn't afford a lawyer.

New Hampshire city attorney sues parking meter feeders, they are cutting into city revenue by preventing the meter maids from writing tickets
The city of Keene, N.H., has sued a group that feeds change into parking meters that are about to expire, saying members are harassing parking enforcement officers.
The group calls itself "Robin Hood of Keene." Members walk city streets with rolls of dimes and quarters to feed the meters. WMUR-TV reports the city accuses the group of interfering with officers' work. It asks them to stay at least 50 feet away.
The group records its time outside and posts videos online, sometimes showing members following the officers.
The city says one officer suffered stress, anxiety and heart palpitations from the group's actions. Group member Garret Ean says he's not trying to cause any medical problems. He says he tries to keep a good demeanor with all the parking meter enforcers.

200 cars seized by 4 cops during traffic stops, both the chief and the acting chief of police, two patrolmen, and the tow truck driver have all been arrested in King City, Monterey County, California. They were selling the cars to get rich. They targeted poor minorities.

She then walked Angel Dobbs into full view of the dashcam in his cruiser. As the video shows, Helleson first feels the elder Dobbs' right breast, then reaches into her underwear, searching her anus and then her vagina.
Her niece is then subjected to the same search. Helleson didn't even change gloves in between searching the two women.

I'm ashamed to put this info out on the web, but not doing this is allowing the police to continue to break laws and mistreat innocent people, men and women. Not speaking up in condoning this out rage ous behavior.
My advice? Check with your police dept, city, county, and sheriff public contact and find out what their reocrd of breaking laws is, suspensions, and firings. Where there is smoke, there is fire.

Connecticut has found a new way to tax the drivers... snowy car tickets.
State Police are aggressively ticketing drivers who ignore Connecticut's new "ice missile" law, which requires motorists to remove all snow and ice from their vehicles.
Since the law took effect Jan. 1, state police have issued at least 230 tickets to truckers and motorists who were driving snow-covered vehicles. At $120 per summons -- the fine is $75 plus $45 in various surcharges -- that amounts to $27,600 in tickets in a month and a half.
If snow is on a vehicle and it comes off, you're responsible," Vance said.
Vance could not break down the number of tickets issued to motorists and truck drivers, who face the added burden of clearing snow from tall trailers not easily accessible from the ground.
According to the law, drivers must "remove any accumulated ice or snow from such motor vehicle, including the hood, trunk and roof of such motor vehicle, so that any ice or snow accumulated on such vehicle does not pose a threat to persons or property while the vehicle is being operated on any street or highway of this state."
The law was passed in 2010 but implementation was delayed to Jan. 1, 2014, to allow the public to become aware of the regulation and for trucking companies to develop ways to remove snow from big rigs.
If snow falls off a passenger car and damages another vehicle or causes an accident, the operator can be fined $200. Commercial drivers face a $500 fine.

Cop arrests cop, gets harrased
A Miami Police officer, was late for an off-duty job. While in full uniform, he ran his marked police cruiser up to 120 miles per hour on a city freeway trying to make it to work. Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Watts was one of the cars he blew past.
Uncertain of who was in the speeding car, Watts spent seven minutes with her blues-and-twos running, trying to catch the speeding Lopez. Once she pulled him over, Watts confiscated Lopez's gun and cuffed him. Lopez eventually lost his job.
after the incident, Watts alleges that she started receiving threatening and prank phone calls (some were even to order pizza), along with other forms of harassment including police cars and unmarked vehicles idling outside her house. According to MSN News, a public records request with the Sunshine State's Department of Motor Vehicles revealed that her driver's license information had been accessed by 88 different officers in 25 different agencies over 200 times in just a three-month span.

I suspect she's been harrased for not giving him a pass for being an idiot in uniform. They expect that from everyone else in uniform. So astoundingly corrupt.
If you read past hte link you'll see she's got a damn good case and is sueing every damn department that has run her info, in violation of a law that gives police secrecy of their residence, furthermore, for no cause to run her info. I'm shocked nothing in the news from her department head, division officer, etc decrying the outrageous behavior of everyone that has searched the database for her info, and demanded their resignation for being unprofessional, etc

speed trap warning is given the green light by judge, overbearing - power tripping Ellisville Missouri police subdued by the 1st ammendment Free Speech provision
According to a federal judge in St. Louis, flashing your headlights to warn of upcoming speed traps is a legally protected form of free speech and is therefore protected by the First Amendment, says Fox 2 News. The ruling came after police in Ellisville, MO, pulled over Michael Elli, a retired man with a clean driving record, for flashing his lights to warn motorists that police were using their radar guns ahead.
Elli sued the city, and the American Civil Liberties Union joined him in the suit shortly thereafter.
ACLU attorney Tony Rothert, "In our view that's speech that's protected by the First Amendment and it's also good for the public because it tells people to slow down, to use caution. That's never a bad thing."

Baltimore Maryland stoplight cameras grossly inaccurate and ripping off residents. City didn't bother releasing this info, the newspaper did
a secret audit from 2012 of the traffic cameras in Baltimore, MD should heat things up a bit. In an audit of the city's 83speed cameras, The Baltimore Sun is reporting that 13 had a double digit error rate, which helps account for a system-wide error rate of 10 percent. Of course, the secret part of this secret audit was that the findings were never released to the public.
City officials originally said that the cameras had an error rate of less than a quarter of a percent, but the audit found that most were not only off, they were way off – three specific locations in the city had error rates that varied from 35 to 58 percent. As the article points out, a total of 700,000 tickets were issued in fiscal year 2012 averaging $40, and a 10 percent error rate would mean that close to $2.8 million in fines were collected erroneously.
