NEWS: McLaren & Audi Join RMA Track Days

Road Magazine luxury track day pals, RMA Track Days – running the best (open pit lane, over-taking either side, no over-crowding & jaw-droppoing cars) circuit events at Europe's premier tracks – have lined up McLaren to join their forthcoming track day hoon at Silverstone on September 18th, and Audi are all set to join in the RMA brand of tyre-pounding fun at Belgian super-circuit, Spa-Francorchamps on 23rd and 24th September too. Sweet as...! Get involved!   

Selected RMA track day participants will be able to try out McLaren's amazing, 592bhp, 205mph high-tech hypercar – the MP4-12C – on the full Silverstone Grand Prix circuit on the 18th. And Audi will be bringing a brace of R8 V10 Plus', RS6 and RS4 to the simply superb Spa for potential clients to try on track. 

Does life get much better?

NEWS: Sabine Schmitz Joins Forces With Ron Simons Racing

Two of our greatest Green Hell buddies – Ron Simons and Sabine Schmitz – have (finally!) joined forces, offering yet another string to the fabulous RSRNurburg and RSRSpa track experience bow. 

"Ring queen" Sabine will now be on hand (most days of the week!) to offer her infamous 'hot taxi laps' around the world's greatest circuits – Spa-Francorchamps and Nurburgring Nordschleife – in the superb, eclectic mix of RSR track hire cars. Quite a heady combination, I can tell you – having sampled both over the years. Certainly a memory of a lifetime.   

For those who do not know, RSRNurburg (run by dude ex-racer, Ron Simons) have built a reputation of excellence over the past 15 years at the famous Nurburgring for driver training, instruction, track car rentals, corporate events and Road Tours. And Sabine Schmitz has raced the world over, but her true passion belongs at the Nurburgring where without doubt, she is most recognizable figure at the Green Hell, and Spa.

NEWS: RMA Offer Chance To Drive an Audi R8 V10 Plus On Track

Our good friends at RMA Track Days are offering invited drivers attending their Silverstone GP event on 17th April the chance to drive Audi's mighty R8 V10 Plus. Cool! If you've not seen one already, check out this short TV commercial. 

The R8 V10 Plus costs £127,575 and features a tuned-up, 542bhp, 398lbft 5.2-litre V10 engine delivering 0-62mph in 3.5-seconds and a 197mph v-max. It also has fixed rate (not magnetic damping) suspension, carbon fibre brakes and the S-tronic semi-automatic transmission. It's a track-orientated R8, akin to the GT3 911.   

And RMA has arranged for Audi to show off three of the new R8 V10 Plus' at the Silverstone event. RMA says: "At just £399, it's a very reasonably priced day and we are confident it will be fully subscribed so book it now or miss out!"

NEWS: RMA Track Club Get Porsche Cayman S Tuition Car

Road track day buddies, RMA (http://www.rmatrackdays.com/) have added another reason to join them on their exciting 2012 track day forays – a Porsche Cayman S tuition vehicle. The 170mph, stable, quick, mid-engined, rear wheel-drive Porsche with 320bhp is a fabulous track tool, and great fun to learn in – especially fitted with super grippy Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tyres and equipped with Racelogic's Video VBOX data logging video tool, to see where you are going wrong, or getting it right. See just why we at Road Magazine are so excited to hear our friends and the infamous Manthey Racing GT3 RSR will be racing across Europe at eight perfect circuits in the GT Open this year (see post below). This external and in-car footage from the 2008 ADAC Nurburgring 24-Hour shows just what an absolute circuit devouring weapon it is... just listen to that engine and transmission working in perfect harmony: 911 Heaven! No wonder they have won this most gruelling of endurance races five times... and we'll have big money on them winning in the rest of Europe too. Anyone care to disagree?

NEWS: Manthey 911 GT3 RSR Aiming To Dominate GT Open

The all-conquering Nürburgring 24-Hour-and-VLN-winning Manthey Racing GT3 RSR is heading off into Europe – aiming to dominate the International GT Open series. Porsche works driver, Marco Holzer and 2011 German Carrera Cup champion, Nick Tandy will pilot the Nürburgring legend in eight races, on eight classic circuits across mainland Europe. The famous yellow and green 911 was collected from Weissach last week and left the workshop (pictured) for the first time today, on it's way to Barcelona for the first track test.
