VIDEO: Unreal Course Record Blitz by Radical @ 2013 Cholmondeley Pageant of Power
Jees! This is an epic, heroic run up the frightening and crash-tastic 1.2-mile Cholmondeley Pageant of Power sprint course – with Robbie Kerr smashing the course record with a blistering time of 55.29s during the last run of the 2013 event. Robbie set the record in a road-legal Radical SR8 RX despite having never driven the car or the course before, in a wild display of driving bravery and skill. Check it out! NEWS: 2013 Time Attack Championship
Less than a week to go until the start of the 2013 Time Attack UK Championship – with the first round at Cadwell Park, on April 1st bank holiday Monday. You going?
To help get you in the mood, here's a great video from Togethia TV from the 2012 Cadwell event – a wet old affair, most likely as this year will be. At least the turbo cars will enjoy all the cold air there is at the moment.
This year features some new tyre regulations and the usual multiple classes for Club Challenge and Pro entries, in FWD, RWD and 4WD groups – so plenty of silverware to play for.
And the 2013 dates and venues are well spread across the UK at a good range of superb fast and flowing and tight and technical circuits, for a fair fight:
Round 1 – 1st April, Cadwell Park
Round 2 – 11th May, Croft
Round 3 – 9th June, Snetterton
Round 4 – 20th July, Oulton Park
Round 5 (Pro class) – 8th September, Silverstone
Round 5 (Club class) – 14th September, Donington
Round 6 Finale – 29th September, Brands Hatch
The series created in 2005 is looking like developing on another notch this year – so expect plenty of close competition and some really great sprint cars and (some race) drivers in all classes. We're particularly looking forward to seeing if Simon Deaton's Porsche GT3 R factory-fettled race ace can compete against the big power 'point and squirt' turbo nutters in the Pro class, even with 'only' 500bhp against some cars with nigh-on 1,000bhp. But there's many a battle to enjoy. So, check out a round near you – Time Attack is a great sprint series that deserves your support. You'll have a great day spectating. Or, why not enter your car as a OHW (One Hit Wonder)? It's great value and great fun racing, with less risk of damage and a super friendly paddock of new friends in the making. Get involved!
Find out more at the Time Attack website. Good luck everyone!

NEWS: Toyota GT86 Scores First Motorsport Victory
Toyota’s exciting new GT86 sport coupe has claimed its first UK motorsport victory – winning the third round of the Toyota Sprint Series at Barkston Heath on Sunday 12 August. Driven and prepared by Adrian Smith of Fensport (http://www.fensport.co.uk) in conjunction with Autocar magazine, the car was competing in the Toyota-sponsored event for the first time and duly won both its class and the event overall. It was also a first win for a rear wheel drive car with a normally aspirated engine since the series began in 2007. Fensport boss, Adrian Smith posted the quickest time of 54.55 seconds around the 0.75-mile Lincolnshire course, six hundredths of a second quicker than the second placed, heavily modified Celica GT-Four ST205 of Iain Gard. Third place went to Autocar’s Steve Sutcliffe who co-drove the GT86 with Smith.
The GT86 used a standard 2.0-litre “boxer” engine and unmodified six-speed gearbox. The only changes made to the road car specification were the suspension, wheels and track tyres. To save weight the interior was stripped out and fitted with a racing seat.
The GT86 was lined up against a range of standard and modified Toyotas, and its winning time demonstrates the rewards drivers can enjoy from the car’s essential qualities of light weight, agility and strong grip – elements that Toyota made priorities in its development programme.
A great deal of preparation took place very quickly by Smith and his team at Fensport to prepare for the event as the GT86 only went on sale this month in the UK.
Smith said: "Driving the GT86 for the first time on track was an absolute joy, the car has responded so well to our modifications and has proved to be a very capable and extremely well handling package. I am really looking forward to further development of the car and hope to repeat our initial success."
With further development planned for the car, Smith hopes to maintain this winning streak at Croft on 16 September and Snetterton on 20 October. The Toyota Sprint Series is open to all Toyota vehicles, from standard road-going models to highly modified cars, each competing in their own class against the clock on a series of timed runs. For more details visit www.toyotasprint.com.
This win celebrates the start of GT86 participation in motorsport with Toyota (GB) entering a car in this year’s Britcar 24 hour race at Silverstone from the 21 to the 23 September. The GT86 is available to buy now from Toyota Centres and is priced from £24,995 on the road.
Find out more about the GT86 racer at: http://www.facebook.com/Fensport & look forward to our road test of the GT86 in www.roadmagazine.co.uk Toyota and Lexus special this Autumn.

VIDEO: TOTB XI 2012 Film by TC Media
Here's a film of the TOTB drag and handling event for 2012, by TC Media. About this year's event, where Andy Forrest's amazing Impreza RA set a new record of 8.77s on the 1/4-mile and four drivers hit over 200mph on the standing Km, the TOTB team said: "TOTB XI has already been rated by the Ten Of The Best Community as the best one yet! Although this year behind the scenes Straightliners MD Trevor Duckworth has made some important changes, they have proven to be exactly what TOTB needed. It has been said in the past that stripping the event back closer to it's roots would re-generate that reknowned "family" feel, and it has! With support from key sponsors and the timeless efforts from the Straightliners crew this year truly was amazing. The cars were outstanding out on the Drag-strip and the Handling circuit with many crew members remarking just how hard the drivers, mechanics and teams have worked over the years to show how reliable and well built their cars have become compared to previous years and is a testament to their commitment and loyalty to the event. With four drivers breaking the 200mph barrier and Andy Forrest in his Subaru Impreza belting out a TOTB record of 8.77s this year was a major turning point for the teams, drivers and the event itself. Eleven years ago Simon Hinshelwood's love for performance cars and the dream of an event that would bring car lovers together was born, he sadly passed away in 2009 but his dream lives on, and every year despite the weather forecast, Simon shines down on Elvington Airfield and he no doubt has a laugh at everyone when they run for cover under the odd shower or too, but his dream lives on in all that attend, compete and speak about the UK's No.1 performance car event. This is the best event, because of where it comes from and what it stands for and that will never change whilst the likes of Trevor Duckworth and Straightliners crew have anything to do with it, because it is them that attract the 1000's of smiling faces, the inspiring teams, the friendly clubs and the true soul of the UK Performance Car communities....come on TOTB XII, we really can't wait!"
